Customized RO System To Solve Iron Overload in Barrel Water

Project Background

The customer plans to start the barrel water business, and needs a set of reverse osmosis (RO) system with a capacity of 2000L/h.

Raw water quality: The water quality report provided by the customer shows that the iron content in the raw water is 2ppm and the TDS value is 1200ppm.

Water quality problem: According to the drinking water standard (usually requires iron content <0.3ppm), the customer's raw water iron content seriously exceeds the standard.

Potential Risk: If a conventional RO system is used directly, iron contamination will lead to clogging, scaling or oxidative damage of the membrane element, and the system may fail in the short term, increasing maintenance costs and downtime risks.

Customized Solution

Pre-treatment Enhancement: We recommend the customer to use a strong acidic cation resin that is resistant to iron contamination to efficiently remove iron ions (Fe²⁺/Fe³⁺) and avoid membrane contamination. Simultaneous reduction of water hardness (Ca²⁺, Mg²⁺) reduces the risk of subsequent RO system scaling.
